ltd#13: evening fires "figures of earth" cd-r $8
evening fires is a quartet of pennsylvanians, featuring members of clear spots and nessmuk, as well as the brains behind the deep water acres website & label. they're busy guys, but still found the time last summer and fall to crank out a set of backporch jams and slipstream
electric boogaloos. they get help on banjo and mandolin on a few tracks, too, beefing up the downhome goodness.

what really makes "figures of earth" such a stunning album is the diversity that doesn't take away from the overall flow. kraut-infused songs fit seemlessly next to something reminiscent of the black twigs. they don't fight it out, they just keep it mellow and roll on down the way. using an array of instrumentation from guitars, synths, and drums to saxophone, bodhran, and tabla, you get a lot of mileage out of these 47 minutes. the perfect soundtrack to your summer roadtrip. limited to 73 handnumbered copies.

ltd#24: tricorn & queue "hidden entrances" c30 $7 domestic/$9 world
tricorn & queue is one of the centerpieces of the mighty housecraft label. they make drones that are so dreamlike and zoned-out that it's nearly impossible to get anything done. it feels like something from decades ago. "hidden entrances" leads to a world of ghostly remnants, washed in tape hiss and dressed-up in sunkissed colors. everytime i listen to this, i just drift away, making it impossible for me to focus long enough to write something intelligible. god i love this band.
limited to 70 handnumbered copies. blue tapes, flourescent pink labels.

order
ltd#26: muura "black & gold butterflies" c45 $7 domestic/$9 world
matt earle is one hell of a magic man. from new south wales in the land of oz, earle has unleashed his own country on his fabulous breakdance the dawn label. there's an endless stream of releases from his various projects (xnobbqx, sun of the seventh sister, muura, the minerals, et al). it never gets old and it never, ever ends.

so, as my obsession with earle's output grew and grew, i had to bring him over an ocean to the land of digitalis. with that i offer the first of numerous bdtd-related releases, this from his main solo guise, muura. "black & gold butterflies" is the bones of the blues. deconstructed and reassembled with spackle and duct tape. each fractured note hangs on by a thread, clinging to a mirage of junkyard dreams. limited to 50 handnumbered copies on yellow tapes.

order
ltd#23: sea zombies "it died in africa" c41 $8 domestic / $10 intl
the first incarnation of sea zombies was entombed at bottled smoke in 2007. that one-off performance featured john xela, jefre cantu-ledesma, gregg kowalsky, jed bindeman, & myself. but the original intent of the project was always as a duo between xela & the north sea, with assorted special guests thrown into the mix in various places. it seemed appropriate, then, that the first ever sea zombies release consisted of stripped-down duo recordings. both tracks were launched into the stratosphere during xela's boozed-out visit to tulsa in march of 2008. much blackness was birthed.

"it died in africa" is the first thing we recorded during that fitful week in early spring. accompanied by dudes in africa sermonizing in french, walls of synthesized ruins were blown to bits with oscillating shards of burned-out glass. thick and syrupy and ready for consumption. packaged in oversized black envelopes with gold lettering which house the tape (with black-on-gold cover), insert, and a different african tarot card with each copy. first edition: limited to 100 handnumbered copies in black envelopes SOLD OUT! second edition of 50 in gold envelopes still available.
