vapaa have channelled the mystics of northern finland through their bones on previous releases. their jazz-influenced forest folk hit like twigs raining from the sky. on "tilat," however, they take a different approach. in an effort to seek the meditative force of electronic drone, they pulled out their synthesizers and wailed away. amazingly, the forest charm of their previous recordings is still audible, despite a completely different approach. instead of soundtracking the summer sun, this is the cold winter night. 90 copies
