?Zome? is the first official release under Adam Forkner?s White Rainbow moniker. Forkner ? who is based in Portland, Oregon ? also plays with dream-rockers Yume Bitsu and Surface of Eceyon (with members of Landing) and also records as VVRSSNN. White Rainbow is supposedly Forkner?s ambient project, however it seems that ?Zome? was put to tape prior to his heading in that direction. Officially recorded in 2003 with his Landing brethren, ?Zome? was intended as an aural love letter to Forkner?s sweetie, Honey Owens ? a member of Jackie-O Motherfucker, who also records with Forkner as World. As you can plainly see, Adam Forkner gets around musically, but this record is a living testament that his emotional direction is singular. What you?ll find when you open the intricately constructed ?temporary ?Zome? structure? are four tracks of blissfully sweet dream music. These songs, while not overly challenging, are beautiful in their execution and clear in their intention. This short release seems to be an appetizer, a tease leading up to a full-on box set (!!!) that is soon to be released. With someone as ambitious as Adam Forkner, you just know that the quality will far outweigh the quantity. 7/10 --
