Retconned combine angry, screaming rapping vocals over electronic, glitchy backbeats on opener, ?Opposed Thumb,? which sounds like it was recorded live at the local video arcade. There?s an eerie Gary Numan & Tubeway Army vibe to several tracks like ?The Interview,? but the rappy/spoken word lyrical delivery is more distracting than complimentary. Fans of 70s electro-anarchists, Suicide may find a few tracks worth returning to here and No Wave acts like DNA are never far from our thoughts as we traverse Retconned?s syncopated glitch beats. Challenging, not always successful, but more often than not, an interesting travelogue through the current state of electronic music. It will probably appeal more to listeners averse to your typical drum-bass-guitar offerings. Imagine giving the Beastie Boys a bunch of Play Stations and telling them to make something musical and this is what you might get. 6/10 --
