Warm, violin-driven Americana with the odd trumpet, sax, cello and pitch pipe embellishment from this Philadelphia quartet. Guitarist/songwriter Michael Pomranz? homey, folksy tunes are better than his, frankly, quite whiney, hiccupping vocals and there?s an uncomfortably syncopated Joan of Arc vibe that slips in to the occasional track, such as ?Up Up Up Up Up Up? to keep the listener consistently on their toes, never knowing what to expect next. It may not be too memorable after you put the CD away, but it?s certainly not dull while you?re listening to it. Unfortunately, the 10-minute funeral dirge ?Til We Die (pt. 3),? despite its clever violin interpretation of Zeppelin?s ?Kashmir? deteriorates into a howling bloody mess that?ll have even the most patient listener running form the room, screaming in abject terror. 5/10 --
