Dual guitars, driving beat, and the evilly large bass groove laid down by Jesse Kwakenat make this an aggressive, jarring punk record. Punk with an eye on the improv, Stnnng channels bands like Birthday Party and Jesus Lizard to cool effect, especially on tracks like ?Dead Sex? and ?Dubbed Warehousing.?
?The Spider and the Typewriter? and ?The Id is a Dude? combine the blurt and the brain in ways that remind one of other albeit greater Minneapolis bands. ?Incidents Surrounding My Three Deaths? has a great ?Zen Arcade? pseudo-mythic drive, suggesting that the band must really take these songs out live. Threatening the way all the best music is?because it upsets the usual safe ground, Stnnng ought continue to take risks, and their future seems killer. 7/10 --
