Jupiter Dogs is the new name of a UK band formerly playing as ?Untitled?. The sound is stripped and rough, very much like it was recorded in a living room at a buddy?s house. It is sort of Jandek?esque with a good mood.
It gets props for interesting packaging (a 3? mini disc on a hand-stickered card) and for sounding like the score to a low budget indie flick. It has the right amount of dark tension and some very beautiful melodies at times. Unlike some similar projects, Jupiter Dogs doesn?t leave out its earnestness. The people creating this music really seem to mean it, which I often wonder about when listening to music of this style. It doesn?t simply meander; it seems to have some purpose. My criticisms are that whoever was moving and dropping things in the background should have been removed or wrapped in foam and that it ends feeling rather unfinished, like a preview. The noises were distracting at times and the ending was ?eh?. 6/10 --
