Axa Hour of Dora Bleu is a collaboration between a bunch of dudes from those million Godspeed You! Black Emperor side-projects you've never really listened to, and Dorthy Geller. The record is full of beautiful sparse and melodic twinkles of strings and free flowing percussion. Strange in that it somehow comes across sounding like it should be a soundtrack to some sort of depressing midieval acid trip full of whispery forest nymph vocals that really bridge on the annoying side.

The bass on the record is certainly one of the highlights, there's always something differnet going on with it, whether it be the low menacing rumbles of 'Marked for Memory' or the slippery jazzy string bass plucks of 'Meaning and Wrath' it's always interesting.

Unfortunately, despite some beautiful and that interesting bass parts, the record lacks that all important grab and I find myself quickly fastforwarding though parts, or just getting entirely bored with it and listening to something more interesting. 6/10 -- Jordan Spencer (21 April, 2008)
