This trio, who pronounce their name, D.R. Radio (shorthand for Death Row Radio), have composed orchestral textures that range from 3 minutes to 32 minutes. Quite a variety! It’s evocative of a stroll through an artist’s exhibit and looking at all of his/her periods, some longer than others—yet all uniquely theirs.
Soothing, respiring ambient drones. Soft, yet full pulses. Very reminiscent of Fabio Orsi’s work, especially his “Audio for Lovers” epoch. I think many of the song titles capture the ontological nature of these tracks. For example, titles like “made to dream,” “deeper than sleep,” and “up to forever” are very appropriate to the sensations—perhaps environments—that you will experience upon venturing into this audible transcendence.
“leaves” has fabulous double LP style packaging! I love the neat, clean, minimalist art/graphics. The soft gray of the album design sets the tone for what you’re in store for. Very soft and subtle, yet incredibly sensory. I haven’t run into an album that had such complementary presentation/content in a long time. But this is the complete package! 9/10 --
