Richard Moult is an English composer and painter who has worked with David Tibet, United Bible Studies, Far Black Furlong, and Agitated Radio Pilot. The seven short pieces on this 3" cd-r are recent works that Moult did for solo piano. Each part of "Suite for Hippolyte" has the same haunting atmosphere throughout, slow decaying notes that leave you with a feeling of coldness. Somewhere between classical music and ambient atmospheres, these works take you on a journey that may or may not be about Greek mythology's Hippolyte who committed suicide after her husband left her and wed Phaedra. The story makes sense with the music and you can feel the deep emotions that Hippolyte would have been feeling at this moment in time. It seems like usually in this style of music pieces can last much longer than the average two minute tracks you find on "Suite for Hippolyte." Also, a 3" cd-r is an interesting format for classical music which seems to usually extend much further than the twenty-one minute limit you find on most 3" cd-r's. Nice, short and sweet. If classical solo piano is your forte then this is worth checking out. If not, than I must say you will probably find yourself bored because Moult's piano pieces don‘t explore any kind of uncharted territory. 5/10 --
