Cruudeuces is an artist that is slowly but notably getting a foot in the door. Nathaniel Brennan, the mastermind behind the mayhem has already let several releases loose via couple micro-labels like Twin Beds, Wet Merchants, and now Kimberly Dawn. This is some dark, shadows on the wall, what’s-that-over-there kinda shit. And I’m digging every second of it. The first track has slow emissions of wispy yet pungent layers of oscillating noise filtered through a death machine. It has a brooding quality to it. Like an abandoned factory that still echoes with the din of saws and gears of long ago. The second track has a less resonant feel to it. Instead, it has a grim set of keys that drop off into an abysmal rift. Like death itself, the track has an eerily imminent feel. Squawks and squeaks unnerve like the reaper slowly approaching with floorboards that creak with each step. The third and final track is a repetitive loop of groaning noise in the night, which sounds like damned souls sentenced to drain through a mystic grinder. Quite the listening experience. I’ve become addicted to this one though. I’m looking forward to their new one coming out on Tape Drift. 8/10 --
