Gang Gang Dance is another Brooklyn ensemble that merges ethnic inspiration with textured experimentation for the dance floor. That being said, the moves that accompany their latest full length, ?God Money,? might be of a more amorphous nature. This is challenging stuff that incorporates pretty much everything but the kitchen sink: Art punk, krautrock, early industrial, gamelan, house music, afrobeat and more are pressed into these cosmic gyrations. Through it all, the high pitched vocal of Liz Bougatsos moans and coos in ecstatic revelries like a cross between Yoshimi from the Boredoms (the band that really pioneered this sort of driving, live, body music) and Bjork. The extensive funk space pop of ?Before My Voice Fails,? comprised of hypnotic polyrhythmic percussion, head tickling synth flourishes and more blistering assaults, sounds like early 70s Can and Black Dice dropped into a blender. Other tracks range from a more atmospheric, minimal headspace to full on supersonic overload. For all their booty-shaking infectiousness, Gang Gang Dance still knows how to bring the noise. 7/10 --
